~ Registering your Foal ~
If your mare is AQHA or Jockey Club registered, you may register Stone's foal with AQHA. For the American Quarter Horse Association, AQHA, the foals sire and dam must be registered with the American Quarter Horses Association or the Jockey Club (Thoroughbred). At least one parent must be AQHA reqistered, Stone is registered.
If your mare is AQHA, Jockey Club or APHA, you may register Stone's foal with APHA. For the American Paint Horse Association, APHA, the foal's sire and dam must be registered with APHA, AQHA, or the Jockey Club (Thoroughbred). At least one parent must be a registered APHA. Stone is APHA registered - thus your AQHA mare will have a double registered foal even if a solid color. For Regular Registry the foal must have a minimum amount of white marking, (generally a two inch circle on the body or a face blaze that extends past the corners of the mouth.) A foal without white can still register as a Solid Paint Bred and show on the APHA circuit. A Solid Paint Bred foal may also register as a Palomino or a Buckskin and show on that circuit.
The Palomino Horse Breeders of America, PHBA, is a color registry for gold colored horses. The foal cannot express any dorsal stripes or other Buckskin characteristics. The mane and tail must be a minimum of eighty-five (85%) percent white, and may have no more than fifteen (15%) percent black, sorrel, chestnut or off colored hair in mane or tail.
The American Buckskin Registry Association, ABRA, is another color registry for any breed. The Buckskin color requires a body color from tan/cream to a very dark bronze with points that are black or dark brown. The dorsal stripe is not required to register as Buckskin, though it is a preferred characteristic.
