Hold Your Horses offers an ongoing program for working students and interns. These positions are ideal for aspiring riders who want to learn the art of horsemanship as well as stable management. Sessions run during each season of the year. We are committed to providing an opportunity for real hands on educational experience.
Responsibilities Include: Assisting the trainer with horses on a daily basis with grooming, tacking up, blanketing, turn-out care, cleaning tack and general assistance. Riding assignments will vary depending on your ability. Barn duties include mucking stalls, feeding and watering horses, and special care as instructed.
Benefits Include: Riding instruction from our trainer in dressage, jumping, HUS or Western Pleasure. Opportunities to show horses with us. On-site room and board is also available.
Education Includes: In addition to daily hands-on experience and riding instruction, other concepts covered include stable management, daily care of horses, basic first aid and rehabilitative care, feeding and supplement principles, training concepts, safety routines and the process of buying and selling horses. Some horse experience is required, a good attitude and worth ethic is a must. This is an excellent learning experience for an aspiring rider to train in an intensive and rewarding enviornment.
